The New Zealand center’s 100th match with the Hurricanes in Super Rugby turned into a nightmare after he was sent off for a high tackle. He will miss three weeks of competition.
All Blacks center Jordie Barrett has been suspended for three weeks after receiving a red card for a high tackle during his 100th game for the Wellington Hurricanes last weekend.
Barrett was sent off early in the second half of the Hurricanes’ 38-33 Super Rugby victory over the Queensland Reds after a shoulder tackle on Jordan Petaia’s head.
The Hurricanes vice-captain will miss Saturday’s home match against the undefeated Auckland Blues and subsequent games against the Canterbury Crusaders and Melbourne Rebels.
The Hurricanes are second in the standings behind the Waikato Chiefs heading into round three this weekend, having won their opening two matches.
