Alex Fiva is thinking about ending his career.

The Ski Cross World Championships are coming up in the Engadin next winter. For Alex Fiva it would be a home game – would be. Because the 38-year-old reveals in an interview with “Le Matin” that a possible resignation is possible after the end of the season next week in Veysonnaz.

“To be honest, I’m not sure if I’ll continue next year,” says the 2021 world champion. The decision rests with his family: “I have to discuss it with my family, if they agree, then maybe. My children and my wife will make this decision.”

All three have to say “yes”.

It is difficult to be away from home so often. Fiva’s daughter Nalani Lilly is five and son Leif Janne is three years old. His daughter is starting to understand what Fiva does for a living and where he goes when he’s away. That makes things more and more difficult, as Fiva says. If all three said “yes” to continuing, the big goal would of course be the home World Cup. But the team would have to qualify for the first time.

From a sporting perspective, there is little to suggest that he will end his career. With three races to go, Fiva is fighting for victory in the overall World Cup. The 38-year-old hardly notices the one-year injury break due to a torn cruciate ligament. The prospects for the 2025 World Cup would also be good. But just – would be…

The ski crosser celebrated the greatest triumph of his career at the 2021 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he sensationally won the silver medal. (SDA/jsl)
