A Clash of Specialists: Bourges vs. Basket Landes in the 2022 Coupe de France Final

Between specialists. As in 2022, the Coupe de France final will pit Bourges against Basket Landes on April 27 at the Accor Arena in Paris. The two teams qualified on Saturday at home but did not experience the same emotions.

The clash between Bourges and Asvel has indeed come to an end. The Lyonnaises presented themselves in the Cher without five players, and not the least. Four were injured (Marine Johannès and Héléna Ciak, in addition to Marine Fauthoux and Juste Jocyte, out for the season), while Gabby Williams was unavailable after a return trip to the United States for a family bereavement.

In these conditions, Asvel held out for a quarter (22-17) before losing its footing and letting Bourges, in a packed Prado, win with a large lead (95-65). This is the 21st victory in 23 matches for Tangos at home against Villeurbannaises.

Winners of the Cup eleven times, the last in 2019, the Berruyères will meet Basket Landes, the double holder of the trophy (2022, 2023), in a remake of the 2022 final, a memorable match won by the Landaises after two overtimes (91 -88).

The young Tarbaises collapsed in overtime

But the Mont-de-Marsan team had to battle against the young Tarbaises of François Gomez, who had made the best start (29-14, 10th). And pushed the Landaises to an extension in the wake of the leader Carla Leite (19 years old, 21 points and 7 assists) and the interior Dominique Malonga (18 years old, 15 points, 17 rebounds, 5 blocks), leaders with Serena Kessler (21 years old) from a squad reduced to seven players, including four aged nineteen and under. In overtime, the Landes of Angela Salvadores (18 points, 8 assists) and Samantha Fuehring (15 points, 10 rebounds) showed their freshness.
