The Spring Training of the Baseball Islands for the Blind took place at the Primo Nebiolo Baseball Stadium in Messina, in which the hosts of the Ssd Unime and the Sardinian team of Thurpos. Three days of sport, which precedes the debut of the two teams in the Serie A baseball championship for the blind. We started with joint training dedicated to warm-up techniques and methodologies and then moved on to defensive and offensive game schemes.

The teams played two matches and the strong sirocco wind did not prevent both the teams and the Sicilian and Calabrian referees from in-depth technical-tactical topics, led by the National Manager Corrado Pasquali. The morning match featured the two full-strength teams (6-1 victory for the Sardinians), while in the afternoon the coaches decided to shuffle the cards, giving life to a twinning, exchanging the athletes. A day was dedicated to tourism, with the aim of introducing Sardinian friends to the city of Messina, with a visit to the Cathedral of the Duomo and the historic center and by enjoying the local delicacies.

The president of SSD Unime Silvia Bosurgi continuity of collaboration between the clubs was ensured, on the wave of friendship and mutual respect, by receiving the president of Thurpos Giuseppe Toccowhich he talked about “a very intense weekend of baseball that fully reflected the values ​​of the movement. The two teams were able to enrich each other and above all demonstrated a spirit of brotherhood typical of our sport. We found the Sicilian team very eager to do well in the championship and we are certain that they will succeed in their aim because in addition to having a great desire to be there, they are guided by a competent technical staff. I thank the Sicilian team for making us feel like family. We are truly proud to have found a group of brothers and sisters to compete in the national championship with.”
