10-FEET to Write New Theme Song for ABC Professional Baseball

It has been announced that 10-FEET will write a new song for Asahi Broadcasting Radio (ABC Radio) and Asahi Broadcasting Television (ABC TV) as the 2024 ABC Professional Baseball Theme Song.

This is the first ABC professional baseball theme song to be written, and it will be used not only during professional baseball broadcasts, but also in the sports corners of ABC Radio and ABC TV information programs.

Last season, the Hanshin Tigers won the No. 1 title in Japan for the first time in 38 years, and this season they are fighting for consecutive championships under the slogan “ARE GOES ON.” The strong teamwork of ABC and 10-FEET, with their “Tora-ban principles,” will enliven the team.

After hearing that member TAKUMA (Vo/Gt) is an enthusiastic Hanshin fan and a heavy listener of ABC Radio’s professional baseball broadcast “ABC Fresh Up Baseball,” the staff offered to create a theme song. , and TAKUMA, who is also a fan of the theme song of “ABC Fresh Up Baseball”, which was used until last year, formed a mutual love, which led to the realization of this collaboration.

The theme song will be released on March 29th (Friday), the opening day of the pennant race. In addition to using the song as the opening theme and jingle for ABC Radio’s professional baseball broadcast “ABC Fresh Up Baseball” on that day, 10-FEET members are also scheduled to appear on various ABC Radio and TV programs.

10-FEET TAKUMA (Vo/Gt) Comment
-What were your honest thoughts when you heard about the theme song for ABC Professional Baseball?
I listen to ABC Radio a lot, so I never thought I would be able to do something with the world of entertainment that is part of my daily life, and I personally feel very happy and have fun doing it. .

-Why are you listening to “ABC Fresh Up Baseball”?
Depending on the stadium, there are many days when there is no video broadcast due to licensing issues, and there are many days when we have live broadcasts in local areas when we are on tour, so “radiko and ABC” are my golden set. They will broadcast the broadcast anytime, and even if the Hanshin game is cancelled, they will also broadcast the games of other teams in the Central League that are close to Hanshin. It’s a necessity for me.

-What was last year like when Coach Okada returned and won the championship and became number one in Japan?
I was really happy because it was the first time since 1985 when I was a kid. I mean, it’s not a reality. I cheered so passionately that I felt like I would never be able to become number one in Japan, so the moment I won the league and became number one in Japan, I didn’t just think, “Yay! I did it!” but just quietly and alone. You were crying. That’s good…I thought.

-What do you expect from this year’s Tigers?
I’d like to see them win consecutive championships, but just as Coach Okada said, “If we just do normal things without thinking too much, we’re a team that can win.” I don’t think we currently have the ability to win consecutive championships if we do things normally. I think so. On the other hand, I was playing for a team that had never won consecutive championships. “Continuous championships belong to the Carp, Giants, or Swallows,” he said (laughs). Because of that feeling, I want to give the impression that the Tigers are a team that will win consecutive championships. I really hope they can win consecutive championships.

-What is your impression of the live announcers and commentators for ABC professional baseball broadcasts?
Lately, I’ve been able to immediately recognize someone’s voice when I hear it. It’s easy to understand, “Oh, today’s commentary is by (Osamu Hamanaka).” Also, announcer Junichi Takano’s voice and the miso soup my mother makes makes me feel calm. I met announcer Takano again this time, and I felt strange, thinking, “That voice I was hearing through my earphones…!”

-I’m also curious about the reaction from fans.
This time I’ll be performing the ABC Professional Baseball theme song, but I’ve been listening to it so much that I can’t help but feel like I’m the one providing the song, so I’m thinking, “Let’s have fun together.”

―Last year, you became even more popular with the theme song “Zero Kan” for the movie “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK.” I think the image of basketball is strong, but please tell us your thoughts on working on a baseball theme song.
I want to promote professional baseball. I would be happy if our music becomes an opportunity to get excited, so I want to create great songs. (The song at the time of this interview) hasn’t been completed yet, so it’s burning in real time.
