Zamora and Sports Awards Ceremony Shines at Ramos Carrión Theater

He Ramos Carrión theater was the scene this Friday of the Zamora and Sports Awards ceremony organized by the Union of Cultural Sports Promoters. There were eight recognitions awarded at this event in which the Deputation Provincial and the City hall of Zamora, with interventions by Javier Faúndez and Manuel Alesander Alonso, in addition to the Junta de Castilla y León and Caja Rural.

Throughout the gala the names of the lucky ones were revealed.

The jury decided among the nominees that the nominations as best athlete, both female and male, would go to the Zamorano paddler Carlos Garrotewho is looking for a place for Paris 2024, and María Prieto O’Mullony, handball player now in the Aula Cultural and with a presence in the Spanish National Team. UD was chosen as the best club Bovedanaafter their two promotions last season, while as the best team the Zamora Loves cycling.

Ángel García, from Judo Morales, turned out to be the best coach while the most outstanding quarry was that of Badminton Zamora. Finally, the names of the best school athletes were Irene Calvo (Dragons) and Rubén Hernández (CB Zamora).

Special mentions

There was also space for four special mentions with which we wanted to recognize the figure and work of Ricardo Ferrero for many years in the world of baseball, and also the work of the People Foundation and his commitment to sports; to the young athlete blind and member of the Piragua Ciudad de Zamora, Iker Gallego with his coach Kike Linares, and the work of Zamora journalists was also applauded Andrea Peláez and Sandra Riquelme.

Those present collected their corresponding prize from the delegate of the Board in Zamora, Leticia García; deputy Juan del Canto; the councilor and also deputy Víctor de la Parte; the head of Caja Rural, Narciso Prieto, and its director, Cipriano García. As a detail, the awards were designed by two students from the Zamora School of Art and Design: Fernando Javier López González Daniel Pérez Álvarez in a gala presented by Alba Villalba.
