Preliminary candidate Ahn Byeong-gu said, “We will use the Yeongnam Alps as a resource for mountain tourism in the southeastern region, install a monorail to attract mountain tourists, promote the Pyochungsa Temple sanctuary project, and consider turning the Yeongnam Alps into a national park.”

In connection with the Jongnam Mountain Azalea Festival, a plan was also proposed to use landscape direct payments to plant large-scale rapeseed flowers on nearby fallow farmland to hold a flower festival, and to dramatically attract tourists by utilizing night lights at Wiyangji, a natural tourist destination all year round.

Preliminary candidate Ahn emphasized, “We will develop various eco-tourism contents using Miryang’s mysterious natural resources such as Maneosa Temple, Eoreumgol, and Pyochungbigak, while promoting active administration to revitalize the tourism industry through power blog promotion.”

Candidate Ahn Byeong-gu is actively promoting his past experience of smoothly carrying out a large-scale national project worth 25 trillion won with strong driving force while working as a public enterprise auditor for the Korea Water Resources Corporation. After returning to Miryang in 1994, he led the activities of various volunteer organizations, including as president of Miryang Elementary School’s alumni association, president of Miryang City Local Youth Association, and president of the Badminton Association.

Meanwhile, the Miryang mayoral by-election will be held along with the National Assembly election on April 10, as former mayor Park Il-ho stepped down from his position as mayor to run in the general election.

In this by-election, there will be a three-way battle between People Power Party’s former standing auditor of Korea Water Resources Corporation Ahn Byeong-gu, Democratic Party of Korea’s former city councilor Lee Ju-ok, and Muso’s former Miryang City administrative director Kim Byeong-tae.
