Wilson Sporting Good Co. begins to write a new chapter as one of the largest companies in sports accessories and products and for that it is necessary to take a step into the future.

The brand bounced its prototype for the first time as a 3D printed ball, with hexagonal holes and therefore without any air inside, this was during the contest AT&T Slam Dunk in February 2023, just one year ago.

During that presentation, KJ Martin, a Houston Rockets player, tested the ball and revealed that he did not notice any difference between a normal one and the one created by Wilson, a good sign to take it to the NBA.

However, this was the first prototype so Wilson has since made a series of changes and improvements that refined its structure by combining cutting-edge technology and meticulous craftsmanship in the process.

Airless Gen1 is based on a lattice structure of 3D printed polymer what replicates the bounce, flight and feel of a ball. The design features eight panel-like lobes and the familiar classic stitching structure with hexagonal holes on the surface that help air pass freely through it.

Each ball is equipped with a built-in label, allowing it to be personalized, plus each one comes with its unique production number, adding a touch of exclusivity.

It also gives the opportunity to go outside the classic color, coming in a variety that includes jet black, brown and natural white.

Behind the scenes, Wilson worked with industry leaders such as General Lattice for performance optimization, DyeMansion for color and finishing solutions, EOS for technical oversight, and SNL Creative as the primary manufacturing center.

For those already eager to take this ball to the court, Wilson launched the Airless Gen1 on February 16 with a price of $2,500.
