What Tuchel’s end means for Nagelsmann

FC Bayern can write off the season if necessary. But the national team cannot rely on these Bayern. This doesn’t have to be bad news for national coach Nagelsmann – if he acts consistently.

If what is reported about the talks between Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern is true, then there has rarely been a more emotionless separation in the history of this emotional club: he was half pushed, half sank.

No heads were smoking on Säbener Strasse or Tegernsee to come to the conclusion that was obviously inevitable from both perspectives. Whether Tuchel should continue to work until the end of the season was probably the subject of more intensive consideration. The result here: a bet. With the – smaller – chance that the team that meets RB Leipzig this Saturday (6.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and on Sky) will feel seized by the honor and, especially in the Champions League, will try to achieve a big one thing to turn. And the – greater – risk that this will continue to go well until the thing is through to the premier class.
