Warriors Make Historic Comeback: Last Dance of a Legendary Dynasty

The Warriors have three consecutive victories, eight in the last nine games and 10 in the last 12. They have managed to emerge, resurrect when they were dead, get their act together and attempt a historic comeback. It is the last special dance of a legendary dynasty, the last one the NBA has seen in its long history. That of the four rings, the six finals, the 73 victories and the countless records and brands that have made the team one of the best ever. For many, the best. And they don’t want to put an end to the project without a fight. And a lot. They are consolidated in the play in after spending most of the season outside of it and enough things have changed for everything to work: the departure of Klay Thompson from the bench, agreed with the player himself and the promotion of Jonathan Kuminga to ownership, a decision that Steve Kerr (renewed a few hours ago for another two years at a cost of 35 million dollars) had a hard time making before giving in to the evidence and giving the forward the minutes he deserved. And also those who were best for the franchise. And with Draymond Green finally focused on the job he has to do, which is what he has always done without getting into trouble related to his indomitable character.

Thus, the Warriors do work. And if after the All Star their first victim was the Lakers in the Crypto Arena, now a much more logical one has arrived against the Hornets who were doing very well since the market ended, even though they didn’t have anything at stake. It was at the Chase Center (97-84) in a duel that they dominated by 23 and in which they greatly regulated the minutes of their starters in the last quarter. Miles Bridges’ 19 points and 11 rejections, the best on the Charlotte team, were of no use. Up to five local players surpassed ten points, Draymond achieved his usual statistic when he is good (5, with 13 rebounds and 3 assists) and was very active and the offensive brilliance shined by his absence, but that does not make the victory worth less. Stephen Curry scored 15 points, Klay Thompson scored 13… In short: the comeback continues. And no one knows how this story will end, but it sure is more than interesting. Let’s have fun.

PHILADELPHIA SIXERS 104 – 97 CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

Second loss in the last three games for the Cavaliers, who lose some steam after having nine consecutive victories previously. Without Donovan Mitchell, they could do nothing against the Sixers who are still waiting for Joel Embiid and in which Tyrese Maxey scored 24 points. Paul Reed, with 8, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks, essential in the zone. Jarret Allen was the best player for the Ohio franchise after scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds.

ATLANTA HAWKS 121 – 123 TORONTO RAPTORS

The Hawks are still in the doldrums and in no man’s land, waiting for the season to end to begin an eternally postponed reconstruction. Trae Young had 11 points on 4 of 13 field goals and gave the impression that the situation was getting too long for him, while Dejounte Murray scored 24, with 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The Raptors played a collaborative game and had up to eight players with over ten points.

NEW ORLEANS PELICANS 95 – 106 MIAMI HEAT

Without making much noise, the Heat continue to add victories and will fight until the end to get out of the play in. Right now they occupy seventh place, but hot on the heels of some Pacers who rested this day. Jimmy Butler scored 23 points and Bam Adebayo scored 24. In the Pelicans, increasingly resentful and with a feeling of boredom, Zion Williamson was the best (23, with 9 rebounds and 7 assists) but his effort was insufficient to achieve the victory. Butler, Thomas Bryant (Heat), José Alvarado and Naji Marshall (Pelicans) were sent off for a fight.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 147 – 106 WASHINGTON WIZARDS

New offensive display by the Thunder, who tie with the Timberwolves at the top of the Western Conference. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander reached 30 points, while Chet Holmgren had 25, with 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. In the Wizards, 21 points from a declining Jordan Poole, 20 from Corey Kispert and 15, with 14 rebounds (10 offensive) from Marvin Bagley III.

MEMPHIS GIRZZLIES 95 – 101 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

Kawhi Leonard’s 24 points and Terance Mann’s 23, with 12 rebounds, were the best for the Clippers to beat the Grizzlies who are already thinking about next season, but who continue to fight every game. The duel was not resolved until the end, with James Harden denied in the shot (9+8+8, with 1 of 8 in the shot). Jaren Jackson, with 29 points, was the best of the Grizzlies.

HOUSTON ROCKETS 114 – 110 PHOENIX SUNS

Very disputed game with the Rockets beating the Suns and still fighting for play in options. The ending, full of errors, fell on the side of the Texan franchise. Kevin Durant had 28 points with 11 rebounds and Devin Booker had 25. At home, up to six players had more than ten points with Jabari Smith as the most outstanding player: 22 (but 3 of 10 in triples), with 16 rebounds. Alperen Sengun, in another great performance, scored 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS 112 – 127 DENVER NUGGETS

Nikola Jokic makes another spectacular triple-double of 29 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assists, so that the Nuggets win again and continue fighting for the lead in the Western Conference against the Clippers, Wolves and Thunder. The 25 points of Jerami Grant, the 22 (with 11 rejections) of DeAndre Ayton and the 21 of Afernee Simons were not enough for the Blazers, who continue in free fall.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 107 – 112 MILWAUKEE BUCKS

Giannis leads the conquest of Minnesota. Check the chronicle here.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS 123 – 118 SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Wembanyama breaks another record, but falls to LeBron and Davis. Check the chronicle here.
