(Keystone-ATS) Two people were injured by stab wounds on Sunday evening at the Quick restaurant in Schiltigheim (Bas-Rhin) during an episode of violence resembling a settling of scores between rival gangs, we learned from the police.

“We were called to what appears to be a fight. On site, there were five victims who said they had been attacked by a gang of around fifteen young people with hidden faces,” said a spokesperson for the Bas-Rhin police. “There were hits with baseball bats, stabbings and the use of tear gas.”

“One of the victims was stabbed in the ribs and reportedly had a punctured lung. Another was stabbed in the thigh. Both have bleeding wounds, but their vital prognosis is not engaged,” continued the spokesperson. The two injured people were admitted to hospital.

“This could be a settling of scores between rival gangs, but at this stage nothing has been decided,” concluded the spokesperson. A judicial investigation was opened and surveys were carried out by the technical and scientific police. Witness interviews were conducted on Monday as well as an analysis of video surveillance.

Images taken by witnesses and posted on social networks show acts of violence committed by hooded individuals against customers and against restaurant furniture. When contacted, the restaurant management did not wish to comment. Quick France management did not immediately respond.
