Veteran Delon Wright Leaves Washington for Miami in Buyout Move

On the sidelines of the All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, we are entitled to some player movements on the buyout market. Veteran Delon Wright leaves Washington for Miami.

The news has been somewhat overlooked with the All-Star festivities, but it deserves to be highlighted.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski ofESPNDelon Wright has reached an agreement with the Wizards for a buyout, and is about to commit to the Miami Heat.

The 31-year-old point guard/guard no longer fit into the plans of the Wizards’ reconstruction project, and we imagine that Wright wanted a change of scenery to join a competitive team. It is now done.

Delon will bring depth to the Miami backcourt, which will not be too much for a team currently deprived of Josh Richardson and Terry Rozier (not forgetting Dru Smith). With his defensive profile and experience, Wright fits the Heat style quite well. He will help Miami in the race for the Top 6 in the East and potentially in the Playoffs. Fun fact: Delon is the brother of Dorell Wright, NBA champion with the Heat in 2006 and very popular in Miami.

Currently in his ninth NBA season, Delon Wright averages 7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals in his career (45.3% shooting, 35.4% 3-pointers). He passed through Toronto, Memphis, Dallas, Detroit, Sacramento and therefore Washington.
