Veolia Towers Hamburg Suffers Home Game Defeat in Eurocup

The Veolia Towers Hamburg also failed to win in front of their own fans in their last home game in the Eurocup this season. On Tuesday evening, head coach Benka Barloschky’s team lost to Umana Reyer Venice’s team in the Inselparkhalle with 83:90 (35:46) and thus left the field as losers in the ninth game. However, away from home, the Bundesliga basketball team recorded two wins and seven defeats. It was clear a few weeks ago that the Hanseatic League missed the playoffs for the first time in their third participation.

The 1,719 spectators saw a varied encounter. Although Hamburg got off to a better start, the 4-1 win after just under two minutes was to be the Towers’ last lead for a long time. The guests got better as the game went on and finally pulled away significantly in the second half.

Hamburg again dominated the third quarter. The Barloschky team won the section 28:15 and went into the last ten minutes of the game with a two-point lead. In the final quarter, however, Venice was once again the more effective team and ultimately inflicted a defeat on the Towers. The best thrower for the Hanseatic League was William Christmas (22 points).
