Béziers is the new leader of Pro D2 thanks to its victory over Mont-de-Marsan and the defeat of Vannes on the pitch of Provence Rugby this Friday, during the 20th day.

The leader Vannes lost during the top-of-the-table clash on the pitch of Provence Rugby and leaves first place in the Pro D2 ranking to Béziers, winner of Mont-de-Marsan during the 20th day ©e.

The Vannetais were unable to make the difference against the Provençaux who were difficult to maneuver, and who knew how to manage a tight end to the match to win 16-13 and come back to the level of the Bretons with 61 points. And Béziers did not miss the opportunity to seize the leadership chair by achieving a short but valuable success at home against Mont-de-Marsan 25-20. The Biterrois have two points more than their two runners-up before a new show next Thursday, when they will challenge Vannes on home soil.

The perfection of Aurillac

One of the big performances of the evening can be credited to Aurillac, winner of Colomiers 30-17 thanks to the superb performance of its opener Antoine Aucagne, author of a rare “full house”, with a try, three conversions, two penalties and a drop. Biarritz, penultimate, for its part won the duel of the poorly ranked against the red lantern Rouen and returned to the level of 14th place occupied by Soyaux-Angoulême, beaten by Dax (25- 5).
