Usyk makes a bold statement before the fight of the century

Usyk and Fury will hold the long-awaited fight for the super heavyweight title on February 17.

This can be considered the fight of the century, because for the first time since 1999, the undisputed super heavyweight champion will be determined.

During his career, Fury gained popularity not only with his performance in the ring, but also with his statements outside it. With his insults, he often tends to turn the fight in his favor even before the first bell of the duel.

Usyk and Fury have already met several times at press events. Fury continues to hurl insults in these meetings while Usyk says little. Of course, the language barrier probably also plays a role, as Usik does not speak English well.

Usik himself believes that he has already won the psychological battle, which is no less important than the fist fight.

“Tyson Fury is the one who talks too much. His idea is to get in my head. But in reality, I’m already in his head,” Usyk said.

37-year-old Usik participated in 21 fights in the professional boxing ring and won all of them, ending 13 duels prematurely. Usik was the absolute champion in the weight category up to 90.2 kilograms. In his last fight, he defeated Daniel Dubois by TKO.

On the other hand, 35-year-old Fury has 34 wins and one draw against Wilder in 35 fights.

Until now, the British Lennox Lewis, who combined three belts, won the honor of the “undisputed” champion in the super heavy weight category.

Since 2007, to become the “undisputed” champion, four of the most prestigious belts have to be won. Usyk did it in the “cruiserweight” division (up to 90.7 kg).
