UQAM Citadins Men’s Basketball Team Finishes Season Strong Despite Second Place Finish

The Citadins men’s basketball team finished the season with a record of 11 wins and 5 losses. Mario Joseph’s troupe ranks second in Quebec, two points behind the Concordia University Stingers. “Even if we have a better record than last year, we are disappointed with the final ranking, because our objective was to finish in first place,” commented the pilot of the Uqamian team.

Although they did not achieve their objective, the reigning champions in Quebec remain one of the most formidable teams on the circuit. No less than five players on the team – Kevin Civil, Quincy Louis-Jeune, Bahaide Haidara, Elie Karojo and Mcfadden Jean – are among the best scorers in the province. For his part, Karl-Tommy Laforest is one of the best in terms of rebounds and blocked shots.

In the semi-final, the Citadins will face the Bishop’s University Gaiters on February 28 at the Sports Center. “We had success against the Gaiters this season, but that doesn’t mean anything in the playoffs,” said Mario Joseph. We will have to be at our best defensively and work as a team.” The match will begin at 7 p.m. You can get a ticket on the Citadins website.

The Citadins women’s team, for its part, finished the season with a record of 3 wins and 13 losses.

Tribute to graduates

During the last home meeting, the Citadins highlighted the contribution of six graduates, who are completing their studies this year. They are Elie Karojo, Bahaide Haidara, Kevin Civil, Alix Lochard, Jonathan Noël-Jeune and Quincy Louis-Jeune in men’s basketball; and Fredlyne Verrier, Fredlaine Verrier and Paule-Beline Ibata-Pondza in women’s basketball.
