U-16 National Team Presented with 37 Names of Diaspora Players

Jakarta

U-16 Indonesian National Team presented with 37 names of diaspora players, aka players of Indonesian descent abroad. Some of them caught Nova Arianto’s attention.

The list was submitted by Kemenpora Expert Staff Hamdan Hamedan. U-16 National Team coach Nova Arianto admitted that he was interested in several of the players who were offered.

Later, the best of them will be selected to be included in the next U-16 National Team Training Camp (TC). One of the mandatory requirements is that they have an Indonesian passport.

“There are around 37 diaspora players, but only around nine have Indonesian passports. So after that we will communicate with PSSI about the situation and mechanism,” Nova told reporters, Tuesday (27/2/2024).

“Apart from that, we from the coaching staff will look at their videos. First of all, right now I’m just asking for data on who are the diaspora players who have Indonesian passports,” he added.

The next U-16 National Team TC is scheduled to be held next April. The TC will be attended by players who pass the selection from Waves 1, 2 and 3.

Currently selecting National team U-16 Wave 3 is underway in Jakarta. Previously, selection for Waves 1 and 2 was held, with each wave given three days.

“Yes, maybe in April (summoned),” said Nova regarding the plan to call up diaspora players.
