Nidda (red). There were several surprises for the members at the annual general meeting of TV 1859 Nidda. In addition to the election of a new judo department manager, two long-time active members who have distinguished themselves through special services to the club were rewarded with honorary membership: Lutz Prenger and Waldemar Graßhoff.

The last honorary memberships were awarded in 2009, including to Fritz Kraft, who died last year, TV reports.

Meeting leader Martin Schindler asked for a minute’s silence to remember the deceased members. After the department heads presented their activity reports, the auditors Thomas Meißner and Ute Pointeau confirmed proper accounting. The general meeting therefore unanimously discharged the board.

The budget and annual financial statements for 2022 were explained by Andreas Seipel. Since it was not foreseeable how the sporting situation would develop after Corona, the board decided to adopt the reduced budget of the Corona years and recommended that the general meeting maintain this, which the members decided on unanimously.

After the formal part of the meeting, department head Waldemar Graßhoff provided the first bang. After founding the judo department 54 years ago, Graßhoff decided to take a well-deserved “retirement” and suggested Julian Jungermann, who had already been elected by the department meeting, as his successor. The general meeting unanimously confirmed Jungermann as the new department head.

The subsequent awards also contained two surprises. In addition to Waldemar Graßhoff, Lutz Prenger, long-time head of the athletics department, was also awarded honorary membership. Both were particularly committed to the Nidda gymnastics club. The presidium members Andreas Gutmann and Martin Schindler paid tribute to the two “gymnastics brothers” in their speeches.

Other members who were honored for many years of loyalty were Wilhelm Uhl, Irene Rank, Johannes Eckhardt, Josef Freiburg, Monika Hof, Elvira Repp (all 25 years of membership), Gabriele Stoetzer (40 years), Thomas Frank, Manfred Gierhardt, Ulrike Graßhoff, Martin Schindler (all 50 years), Gerhard Schmollack, Elke Wagner and Ute Pointeau (all 60 years). After the awards, the general meeting ended in a cozy get-together.
