Trecate Implements New Photo Signaling System for Improved Police Work

Trecate – On the morning of Monday 5 February it was presented by the Police Commissioner of Novara Alessandra Faranda Cordella with the Director of the Anti-Crime Division of the State Police Paolo Lo Manto and by the mayor of Trecate Federico Binatti with the Councilor for Security Pasca and the commander of the local Police Pier Zanatto the new photo signaling system activated in the premises of the Viale Cicogna barracks, one of the only two present in Piedmont within a local Police Command (the other is in fact in Turin). “A further step – commented the Police Commissioner – in the excellent collaboration that the State Police has with the local Trecatese Police, always available and operational. The use of the new photo signaling system may be the subject of an agreement with other commands in the provincial territory with a view to further improving the joint work that we already carry out to protect citizens. I thank the Administration and the commander for immediately showing their willingness to invest in security and being interested in offering a new tool necessary for a modern police force”.

The mayor and the councilor underlined “the importance of this project for our community and for the territory. Our choice was to invest resources both in terms of personnel and also for new technological equipment such as photo-signalling, for which, together with the councilor in charge of the tenders Mattia Felicetta, we have identified funds for 48,000 euros to cover this initiative with the aim of further strengthening the work carried out with the Novara Police Headquarters, with which there is constant discussion and dialogue regarding the most significant problems regarding safety, and which we thank for having given the opportunity to some of our sixteen agents to train to use the system”.

Director Lo Manto remarked that “the choice to implement this project with the local police of Trecate is linked to the numbers that reflect the operations of the Command, which sees an annual average of one hundred complaints and twenty arrests. The photo-signalling system, specific to the Scientific Police Departments, involves the insertion of data into the Afis system to be used in an investigative context in accordance with the provisions of article no. 349 of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding identification. The technological equipment creates files that the Police Headquarters inserts into the national database and which therefore allow the verification of the identity of the subjects, any aliases connected to them, active cases, arrest warrants and more”.

Commander Zanatto hoped for and offered “as of now the widest availability of the Trecatese Command to those of the Municipalities of the territory, with the aim of creating a single reception center that can interface with the Police Headquarters and which supports the activities of the State Police”.
