LAKE FOREST, Ill. — (AP) — The Chicago Bears hired Jennifer King, who becomes the first female coach in franchise history, working as an offensive assistant with running backs. Coach Matt Eberflus completed his team on Wednesday by announcing the final six members.
Chris Beatty will coach the wide receivers with Chad Morton in charge of the running backs. Thomas Brown will be the offensive passing game coordinator, Jason Houghtaling will be the assistant offensive line coach and Robbie Picazo will be an offensive assistant working with quarterbacks and receivers.
Jennifer King became the first African-American woman in NFL history to serve as a head position coach in 2021 with Washington. She was first hired by Washington in 2020 as an intern, and she spent the last three seasons as an assistant running backs coach.

She played 12 seasons as a quarterback and seven-time All-American receiver for the Carolina Phoenix women’s football team from 2006 to 2017.
Brown has 13 years of experience, including the last four in the NFL. He was the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator in 2023 after spending the previous three seasons with the Rams.
Beatty is a former CFL player who served as wide receivers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers the past three seasons. He also has 15 seasons of college coaching experience. A seven-year NFL veteran, Morton spent the previous 10 seasons in various roles for the Seattle Seahawks. He has coached for 15 seasons in the NFL. Picazo has coached for 11 years, the last two with Seattle and Houston.
Houghtaling spent the last three seasons with the Tennessee Titans, the last as offensive line coach.
