The accident happened in the Murcia region. Pujalte was taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The 18-year-old Spaniard was part of the Valverde Team-Ricardo Fuentes, a Spanish promising team, which is based in Murcia and is coached by former world champion Alejandro Valverde.
Valverde said in response that he was “appalled” by Juan’s death. “He was a true cycling enthusiast,” “El Imbatido” posted on social media. “There are no words to comfort his parents. My deepest condolences. Rest in peace.”
