“Touched but not sunk”: Antoine Dupont’s first words after his operation

“Show must go on”. Antoine Dupont is already ready to do the show again with the XV of France. Operated this Friday evening on his maxillo-zygomatic fracture, the playing master of the Blues spoke publicly for the first time since his exit due to injury against Namibia (96-0) on Thursday evening.

“Hit but not sunk.” Show must go on. Looking forward to meeting the group again. Thank you for your messages,” wrote the French number 9 on his social networks, accompanied by a photo of him, standing, in the jersey of the France team.

But when will we be able to see him again on the lawns with this tunic? According to sources close to the Blues, the intervention at CHU Purpan went well. Dupont underwent osteosynthesis: two plates were placed on the face of the 26-year-old Frenchman.

A return in quarters or half?

If medical experts prefer not to comment on a precise date for Dupont’s comeback, sources close to the French XV suggest a resumption of training in ten days. And the captain of the Blues could even return to competition within three or four weeks, according to these sources. If all goes well, of course.

Three weeks, for the most optimistic scenario, that would set the quarter-final date for Dupont’s return to his Blues. Depending on the ranking of the Tricolores, the quarter will take place on October 14 or 15. Being less optimistic for the player, but still as much for the XV of France, number 9 would reunite with his teammates for the semi-final on October 20 or 21.
