Toronto Raptors Fall to Dallas Mavericks 136-125: Recap of the Game and Standings Update

The Toronto Raptors suffered their first loss since returning from the All-Star break on Wednesday, losing 136-125 to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Raptors, who had won their last three meetings, suffered the wrath of the Mavericks, who were hoping to bounce back after suffering a stunning defeat on a 59-foot shot from Max Strus at the sound of the siren just the day before.

They admitted that this setback had particularly hurt yesterday, but they got back up thanks in particular to Luka Doncic, who was celebrating his 25th birthday. He scored a 67th career hat-trick with 30 points, 16 assists and 11 rebounds.

Kyrie Irving added 29 points and PJ. Washington 23.

The Raptors are four and a half games behind the Atlanta Hawks, holders of 10th place in the East.

The Raptors led 67-66 at halftime, but the Mavs had two unanswered nine-point spurts in the third quarter that turned the tide. With 4:34 left in this one, Dante Exum hit a three-pointer that brought the Mavericks lead to 91-83.

Shortly after, Doncic connected with Daniel Gafford with a pass that crossed almost the entire court. Gafford had a dunk and a free throw, giving his team a 96-86 lead.

Irving then scored 13 points in five minutes in the final quarter, pretty much sealing the result.

In the loss, Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett had 28 and 26 points respectively. Two days after tying a personal high of 12 rebounds in a game, Scottie Barnes managed 7 tonight, in addition to his 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Jakob Poeltl was at his post after leaving Monday’s final game with a sprained left ankle. His case was uncertain for tonight, but he was finally in uniform and he collected 16 points.

Toronto will host the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
