Timberwolves Acquire Point Guard Monte Morris in Trade with Pistons and Fontecchio from Jazz

No sooner said than done. The Timberwolves had set themselves the goal of adding a point guard to their roster and have done so through an agreement with the Detroit Pistons, teams from which they have acquired the services of Monte Morris in exchange for Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and a second draft round; reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The truth is that the Michigan franchise is being one of the great entertainers of the market, since just a few hours ago they also closed another transfer, in this case with the Utah Jazz, to acquire Simone Fontecchio by sending Kevin Knox to Salt Lake City and a second round pick in the 2024 draft.

Returning to the Minneapolis franchise, their objective with the transfer is to shore up a project that in the current 2023-24 NBA season has flourished as few expected. Although they were already a good team, they are currently one of the best in the competition with a record of 35-16. The acquisition of Morris responds to the need for Mike Conley to have reliable backup on the bench.
