Dani Alves has been sentenced to a prison sentence of four and a half years for sexually assaulting a 23-year-old girl on the night of December 30, 2022 in a nightclub in Barcelona. In addition, the former soccer player must pay compensation of 150,000 euros to the victim, according to the sentence.

The ruling considers that it has been proven that the victim did not consent and that there is evidence, in addition to the testimony of the complainant, to understand the rape as proven.

Alves faced a sentence of 9 to 12 years in prison, according to the request of the Prosecutor’s Office and the victim, respectively. The parties negotiated an out-of-court agreement before the trial, but did not reach an agreement, according to legal sources, because the accused was only willing to accept a minimum sentence.
