After more than 11 years spent at Tottenham in London, Lloris, a former Nice and Lyon player, announced at the end of December his transfer to Los Angeles FC, a club that arrived in MLS in 2018.

Although he concedes that football is still “a little behind” other sports such as American football, basketball or baseball, Lloris has already received a warm welcome from his fans. “I’ve seen the evolution in recent years, it’s something quite important in the hearts of Americans. The championship is becoming more and more competitive. When this opportunity presented itself I didn’t think twice. At Los Angeles FC, Hugo Lloris is starting from scratch in a championship he has never experienced even if he has already come to training on several occasions. “We are in the reconstruction phase with new players, young people, and quality. It’s very different from what I experienced in the Premier League, and that’s completely normal, the means are different, but I find the club very structured, well organized,” explained the former Blues goalkeeper. .

At 37, Lloris also confirmed that this was indeed the last part of his career, ruling out a return to Europe. “It’s the final stage of my career, I still feel the desire to do things well,” he replied. LAFC’s next match takes place this Saturday, February 17.
