The Sports and Leisure association in Pré-Bocage (SLPB), chaired by Jérôme Pioline, held its general meeting at the end of January 2024 in the pump room of Aunay-sur-Odon (Les Monts d’Aunay, Calvados), in front of around fifty people.

The association has a total of five sporting or leisure disciplines: visual arts, badminton, bridge, table football and mountain biking.

Badminton in decline

With 105 licensees, the club notes a 25% drop in the number of its badminton players. This drop is mainly due to the forced closure of the Aunay gymnasium in 2023.

The arrival of new players from the Cahagnes and Souleuvre en Bocage sector very slightly compensates for the desertion of players from the Aunay and Thury-Harcourt sector.

On a sporting level, the club participated last year in all the tournaments organized by the UFOLEP clubs of Calvados and La Manche.

The badminton school is entering its 9th year, with around thirty young people aged 8 to 15 who train every Friday in Cahagnes.

In addition, 115 people participated in the blackminton evening organized in January 2023. It is an original sporting event: a room plunged into darkness, fluorescent, black light, and music.

A first mountain bike marathon in Normandy

The club has 80 members aged 7 to 66, but there are no more women. The mountain bike school organizes outings for groups of levels on Saturday afternoons. These outings are always supervised by the club’s qualified educators.

We encourage as many people as possible to participate in the races. This helps provide motivation for training and it is only in competition that progress can be measured.

But travel is expensive. In 2023, the club contributed €3,900 to travel costs.

This is possible thanks to the PBI grant, but also thanks to the events we organize. To carry out these events, we need volunteers and it is essential that the entourage of our licensees is there when we are looking for people.

The Mont d’Ancre Marathon, the first mountain bike race of its kind in Normandy, will take place on April 7 in Campandré-Valcongrain. The traditional Rando des Martiens will take place on May 1st in Aunay.

Outings and exhibitions

L’Atelier, a creation and artistic expression workshop led by Iziak, has 11 participants. Around fifteen two-hour courses are given from October to June in the pump room.

In 2023, the Atelier organized two outings linked to its artistic projects: a visit to the “À la belle époque” museum in Sourdeval and a visit to a private garden, decorated with around twenty ceramic sculptures, in earth and iron, in Saint-Georges-de-Rouelley.

The Atelier also held two exhibitions, one at the Aunay library and the second at the Clécy gallery.

Medals in table football

Table football players, or table football, from Aunay took part in different championships and came back with medals.

Silver and bronze at the Normandy Individual Regional Championship in February. Silver at the French Club Championship and gold and bronze at the Western League tournaments.

Bridge afternoons

The bridge section has 12 members, who meet on Tuesdays and Friday afternoons, depending on the availability of the Aunay pump room.
