“Referees in three rooms were alerted at around 11pm on Thursday 25 January that they were disturbing other hotel guests and the night’s peace by talking loudly on the balcony. After being notified by the hotel service, a remedy was immediately negotiated,” the FAČR informed in a statement.
“The FAČR Referee Commission was also informed that one of the referees had consumed several sandwiches in the catering section of the hotel, prepared for another group of hotel guests after their arrival at the hotel at night.”
The elite domestic referees were staying at the Landmar Playa La Arena hotel during the training in the Canary Islands.
The referees learned about the incident in the football control room in Prague the very next day. The information about the inappropriate behavior of the arbitrators officially spread only after two weeks.
Player agent Pavel Vandas indicated on the X network that something really happened in Tenerife. “Are the shots after the trouble at the Landmar Hotel Playa La Arena, or after?” he wrote under the post of the Football Referee profile, which shows footage from the seminar.
“Information about the events in Tenerife came to me from several sources. And since these were facts that had already been discussed behind the scenes for a day, he decided to draw attention to them. I think it’s good to know what’s happening a few days before spring,” Vandas told Sport.cz.
According to Sport.cz sources, alcohol also played a role in the trouble, which was not mentioned in the association’s official statement.
The blunder of judges took place not long after the November Belmondo case. In a bar in Olomouc, the trio of representatives drank less than two days before the decisive qualifying match for direct promotion to the EURO.
The exclusion of international referee Pavel Orl from the list of professional referees due to beer at lunch the day before an international match was also discussed recently. It will be interesting to see how the refereeing committee will deal with this excess.
“The KR FAČR immediately resolved matters related to violations of discipline internally,” she stated only vaguely.
