The Rise of Charles De Ketelaere in Serie A and Romelu Lukaku’s Future with the Red Devils

Charles De Ketelaere is finally showing himself in Serie A. He feels very good at Atalanta. Georges Leekens spoke at Sportitalia about CDK and Romelu Lukaku.

Towards the Red Devils?

De Ketelaere had an unsuccessful first season at AC Milan and afterwards he also needed a few months at Atalanta to reach his best level. In the meantime, he has become an indispensable part of the starting eleven thanks to his goals and assists.

“He is one of the best talents that Belgium has produced in recent years,” said Leekens. “Why he failed in Milan? He went to a big club like Milan very early. It is not that easy to make such a leap as a young guest, even if you come from Bruges.”

Romelu Lukaku

At Atalanta it works; “Step by step he is growing. He has seen that he can also make a difference in Italy. Atalanta plays in a way that suits him and where he can excel. After Atalanta, he can take another step higher and also take his place with the Red Devils. I am sure that he will be able to return to work for a big club in the long term.”

He also spoke about Romelu Lukaku. “Romelu is very sensitive, he needs to feel important. He seemed to have a great relationship with Mourinho because he knew him since his time in England. It may be that his level has dropped a bit because of that, although he will be under De Rossi also going to score. I met him when he started playing for the national team and I know that by putting him at ease he will repay you with a great mentality. He is focused on always improving, scoring goals, and to demand a lot from themselves.”
