The prosecutor of the Supreme Court refuses to investigate Carles Puigdemont and the Democratic Tsunami for terrorism

The board of prosecutors of the Supreme Court will study Redondo’s report on Tuesday and define the criteria that will be defended before the criminal division of the Supreme Court, which will make the final decision on whether or not to undertake the investigation. In any case, the public ministry of the National Court has also appealed against García-Castellón’s decision to investigate the Democratic Tsunami mobilizations as terrorism and has asked that the case be returned to the Barcelona courts. He does not see terrorism in it and he had previously criticized García-Castellón’s attempt to link the death of a French tourist due to a heart attack to the supposed promoters of Tsunami.

García-Castellón, who this week has extended the investigation for another six months, considers that Democratic Tsunami was a “structured and hierarchical organization” whose purpose was “to subvert the constitutional order, economically and politically destabilize the State and seriously alter public order”. In addition to Puigdemont, Esquerra general secretary Marta Rovira and ERC deputy Ruben Wagensberg – now in Switzerland to prepare his defense – are being investigated in this case, among others. One of the last moves of the judge has been to try to hold the platform responsible for the incidents during a visit by Felipe VI to Catalonia.
