Just as the match has two halves, SK Kosmonosy coach Michal Mašek could similarly divide the past autumn. In the first part, his team was ripe for a parachute drop, but as soon as the fall broke in the second half, his wards started to collect points and climbed higher in the table. In the end, they hibernate in the C division thirteen. But they will definitely not go the way of expensively paid reinforcements, they prefer to invest in the youth.
Miracles were not expected, but the misery that befell the Kosmonos was shocking. The team won its first point only in the seventh round, and that was at the ground of Čáslavi, which scored only seven points in the first half of the competition. “At the time of the game, she was above us. And on top of that, we got a goal in the second minute and they soon went to ten,” Mašek returns to the moment of crisis.
Then when the match ended in a tie, everyone on the team was relieved. An ugly zero disappeared from the points account. “Gamewise it wasn’t so bad, but the points weren’t made until then. It was truly a turning point. In the next round, we played a good match against the first team in the table, in Ústí nad Orlicí. Although we lost, we felt that everything was turning for the better,” adds the coach.

At the end of the divisional half, they have seventeen points on their account. The position in the table does not allow them to jump out. “But if someone had told me in the seventh round that we would be like this after the fall, I wouldn’t have believed them.” the coach of SK Kosmonosy does not hide a certain amount of satisfaction. “We were under enormous pressure,” he admits.
Who would have expected that during the winter break he would storm and add reinforcement after reinforcement to the team, would be wrong. “There is nowhere to take it. We are happy to cooperate with Mlada Boleslaví and they will let us host a few young people,” describes the harsh reality of the player market.
But in the end, he corrects his statement a little. The players would be found, but the club would have to pay for it. But there is no need for finance, and the management of SK Kosmonosy invests the money in a more useful way. “We will not give nonsense to anyone, we do not go this way,” convinces. Finance is thus aimed at the youth. “We have thirteen teams, we are working with a concept and we will not give it up,” supplies.

He trains honestly with the team during the winter. For preparation, he combined the A with the reserve. On the pitch, during training, thirty fighters with michudas at their feet are chasing him. In the matches, he rotates the formations so that his charges have sufficient playing load and minutes. “We always choose two from the schedule of warm-up matches, when we say that we will use the strongest. In the rest, everyone plays seriously,” says the coach.
And he believes that the spring will be better under SK Kosmonosa. Entry into this year’s competition should be more successful. “We have a difficult lot, but we tell ourselves that we will not step into the same river a second time. We’ve already chosen it for the fall,” Mašek adds optimistically. His team is wintering just three points above the relegation places.
