The Japanese GP will be held at Suzuka until at least 2029

On the World Championship calendar (with a few exceptions) since 1987, the Suzuka circuit is now guaranteed to host Formula 1 until 2029, as Formula 1 announced on Friday. While it has always been located at the end season, seeing 12 drivers conquer the world title (including Max Verstappen in 2022), the Japanese event will be held for the first time this year in the spring (April 5 to 7) in an effort aimed at limiting travel and freight.

“Suzuka is a special circuit and is part of the DNA of this sport,” said Stefano Domenicali, president of Formula 1. “I am therefore very happy to have a race there until 2029. As we prepare to return in Japan earlier than usual, I would like to express my gratitude to the promoter and the Honda MobilityLand team (owner of the route) for their support in our approach to streamline our calendar. Japanese fans show a unique passion for F1 and we look forward to working with the promoter to give them the experience they deserve for years to come. »
