The Ethics Commission of the Football Federation will look into the insults expressed in Tiedenberg’s correspondence with the basketball player Evans

The Ethics Commission of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) will look into the insults expressed in the correspondence of “Liepājas” footballer Eduards Tīdenberg with the Guinea national basketball player Shannon Evans, the LFF confirmed to the LETA agency.

Evans, who was born in the United States, posted a faded message on the social networking site Instagram on Saturday, showing Tiedenberg’s correspondence with him. In it, the football player called the basketball players of this national team slaves and shamed them as representatives of the “totalizator country”, he also wished them to “burn in hell”.

Later, Tiedenberg himself apologized for the things written from his profile, without indicating whether he himself made the correspondence. “Everyone who knows me knows that I respect all countries and people. I will not repeat these bad things again,” Tiedenberg said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the director of “Liepājas” Dāvids Jansons stated to the LETA agency on Sunday morning that he does not yet have any information about the correspondence that happened. A club official noted alone that Tiedenberg always treats everyone in the team well, regardless of their skin color. As you know, the “Liepājas” club has a wide representation of foreign footballers.

Evans, the point guard of the Spanish club Badalona “Joventut”, is currently participating in the qualification for the 2025 African Championship with the national team, as the Guinean basketball players lost to Tunisia 78:85 in extra time on Saturday.

Midfielder Tīdenbergs has played one game for the Latvian national team.
