Accident in the locker room: Tennis professional Gaël Monfils accidentally injured the tournament director at a show event in Oslo and was still disqualified. According to the organizers, the Frenchman had a “playful argument” with Stephane Apostolou and they were “100 percent convinced that Gaël had no malicious intent.” There is still “no alternative” to disqualification, it said in a statement.

“I never intended to hurt anyone or cause any harm, and fortunately Stephane knows that,” Monfils wrote on X, adding that it was “an accident and nothing more.” Monfils, world number 70, was replaced by his compatriot Lucas Pouille.
