Daniil Medvedev has said he will not defend his Qatar Open title next week because he has not returned to full fitness. The Russian has not played since losing in the Australian Open final last month to Jannik Sinner.
“Unfortunately, I am unable to defend my title in Doha this year. I’m still not 100% ready to compete.”declared the 2021 US Open champion on Instagram.
Spaniard Rafael Nadal also withdrew from the ATP 250 tournament, which will be held in Doha from February 19 to 24, because he has not sufficiently recovered from his injuries.
