Success for Ourense Competitors: Six Podiums at Jiu Jitsu Spanish Cup

Leire Carrera, Carolina Araújo and Guillermo Arenas took six podiums from the Parla competition

The Spanish Cup of Jiu Jitsu It was held at the Supera Sports Complex in Parla, with a competition that brought together the sub-16, sub-18 and sub-21 categories, including three members of the Judo Club Marbel Gymwho achieved excellent results.

Leire Carrera (less than 57 kilos), Carolina Araújo (less than 63) and Guillermo Arenas (less than 77) participated in two types of combat. Fight and Ne Waza (restricted to the ground) with excellent results. Leire achieved bronze medals in both modalities. Carolina, for her part, finished with a bronze in wrestling and silver in Ne Waza, while Guillermo added a gold medal in the latter specialty and silver in the other. The three made a pleasant impression and seem ready to aspire to everything in the Galician championship, to be played in Ourense on March 3.

The Ourense expedition was supervised by teachers Felipe Iglesias and Anita Fernández Moráis.

Jiu Jitsu is the martial art from which Olympic sports such as Judo are based and is divided into three modalities, Fighting, Ne Waza and Duo. In the first, it must be scored in three different ways, through hitting, throwing and immobilization on the ground. In the second, the fight is restricted exclusively to the ground. In the third, it is the judge who dictates the correct execution of the techniques by each team.
