The National Basketball Camp for U23 girls from the “From the Street to Gold” project, which took place at the CNaPS Cultural and Leisure Complex in Vontovorona, ended yesterday. All participants were satisfied with the experience and hope that such an event will continue to further raise the level of Malagasy basketball in general, and 3×3 basketball in particular.

Sunday was marked by the final phases between the different representatives of the regional leagues. The representatives of Analamanga won the victory by winning with a score of 18-9 in the final against Amoron’i Mania.

This national 3X3 basketball camp for U23 girls is of paramount importance because it is an inter-regional FIBA 3X3 tournament. All the speakers during the three days of the camp have international experience in the 3×3 discipline, such as Prisca Razananirina, coach of the Ankoay senior 3×3 girls during the African championship in 2022, the three members of the Ankoay national team who shared their high-level experiences, namely Sydonie Marie Erica Andriamihajanirina Jaofera Minaoharisoa Christiane and Harisoa Muriel Hajanirina, as well as international 3×3 referee Tojonirina Harilala Andriamanantsoa, DTN Angelot Razafiarivony, and many others.

For Mihary Randriana, head of the 3×3 basketball commission at the FMBB, several themes were discussed during the national camp.

Very disparate level

The objective is to develop the talent of our young people in 3×3. The camp does not aim to release the list of future members of the national team for the African Games. Each player, eighty-four in total, was closely monitored, advised and supported, and we shared great experiences with them, values that they will need throughout their lives.

Angelot Razafiarivony, DTN of the FMBB, spoke about the importance of the national camp. “It is an opportunity for us to transmit the knowledge necessary in the practice of the discipline, especially since the camp allowed us to rectify the errors observed. The pace during the three days was very intensive and the girls were warned that for those elected to the national team, the intensity will be multiplied by ten. The level was very disparate, which is why we would like such an event to continue for the future of Malagasy basketball.”

Chamirah Rodin Raharitiana, a player who participated in this camp, says she is very satisfied with the experience she gained during the national camp. “It’s another new experience, the atmosphere was good even if the players didn’t know each other at the start.”
