SU Annen’s Strong Showing at NRW Championships in Herne

Herne. At the NRW Championships, the SUA youngsters are once again showing their class. One fighter in particular makes his competitors look old.

Before the team competitions (from the Bundesliga downwards) start again in mid-March, the judoka have the Sport-Union Other There are currently some important individual tournaments on the schedule. Most recently, Witten’s U-18 and U-21 juniors were challenged at the state championships in Herne and delivered strong performances that were rewarded with several medal wins.

For the U-18 juniors, SUA coach Stefan Oldenburg was impressed by the strong performance of youngster Kiran Pawellek. In his first year in this age group, he was completely carefree, surprised with good performances and took undisputed first place in the 46 kg group and thus his ticket to the DM in Leipzig (March 2nd/3rd). “Kiran had already fought really well in previous tournaments, he has made a big leap recently,” said Oldenburg about the national champion, who won the final in just 59 seconds.

Jan Libuda also landed unchallenged on the top podium in Herne Annens. In the class up to 81 kilograms, however, he started the race as the big favorite and justified this assessment from the start. Sometimes Libuda only needed a few seconds to win. “In the final he had an uncomfortable opponent, but he did it really confidently,” praised the SUA coach after the win against Maxim Belender (SSF Bonn).

There was no medal for Liev Kämmers (-60 kg) and Tariyel Ahmadov (-55 kg) from SU Annen, but this time they took fifth and seventh place. In the junior category, Tabea Feldhaus took to the mat for the Sport-Union and won the bronze medal in the class up to 63 kilograms – in a field of 20. “She only lost her quarter-final against a strong fighter from Leverkusen, but otherwise won everything early via ippon,” said Oldenburg. Annens Klara Erten (-52 kg) is already set for the DM.

There were also medals for the SU Annen among the U-21 juniors – and even twice in the same weight class. In the 66 kg limit, Bent Sachse won the national championship title in an impressive manner, winning all of his duels early. In the final he won against Marc Ivtchenko from SSF Bonn in 3:21 minutes. Club colleague Falk Hobein made it to bronze place, who only lost the quarter-finals against Ivtchenko in the “Golden Score” after around 8:40 minutes, but won all the fights in the consolation round and will now travel to the DM in Frankfurt/Oder with Sachse.

In addition, in Herne there was fifth place for Armen Avetisyan in the 60 kg class and seventh place for Kian Kämmers (73 kg).
