The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a two-year contract extension with coach Steve Kerr. This makes the 58-year-old the highest-paid coach in the NBA.
As several NBA insiders, including ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, report, both sides have agreed on a two-year contract extension. Kerr’s original contract would have expired after the current season.
He is expected to earn a rumored $17.5 million per year up to and including the 2025/26 season. No coach in the NBA currently earns more.
Kerr’s new contract ends at the same time as that of Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. The point guard had an early four-year extension in 2021 for over $215 million.
Steve Kerr has been the head coach of the Golden State Warriors since 2014. He was previously general manager of the Phoenix Suns for three years. As a player and coach, he became NBA champion nine times.
