Steve Kerr Inks Record-Breaking Two-Year Renewal Agreement with Golden State Warriors

Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have reached a two-year renewal agreement and the highest annual salary for a coach in NBA history, ESPN reported.

Kerr will receive $35 million in total (17.5 million per season) and will remain linked to the San Francisco franchise until the end of the 2025/26 season.

ESPN clarified that Gregg Popovich, of the San Antonio Spurs, earns more per year, but noted that the Texan team’s coach also has the position of president in that group.

Erik Spoelstra (Miami Heat) signed a renewal of 120 million for eight years in January, which is the largest contract ever signed in the NBA by a coach by total volume. However, Spoelstra’s 15 million per year is below Kerr’s 17.5 million.

With four rings and six NBA Finals in total, Kerr has been a fundamental piece of the Warriors dynasty led on the court by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Kerr also currently holds the position of US coach.
