Sporting Charleroi Unveils Plans for New ZebrArena Stadium

From the 2026/’27 season, Sporting Charleroi would play their home games in a brand new stadium, called the ZebrArena. General manager Mehdi Bayat gave a glimpse of the veil at Eleven Sports DAZN while he walked around the site. “It will be a wall, like Dortmund.”

In an interview with Eleven Sports, Bayat explained his plans for the ZebrArena, Charleroi’s new stadium located in Marchienne-au-Pont. The replacement for the current Stade du Pays would accommodate around 20,000 fans and will be equipped with a transparent roof, which should protect both players and supporters from harsh weather conditions.

“The hard core stand will be in the same place as in Mambourg. However, there will be more seats here and it is the only stand without floors. It will be a wall, like according to the German model, like at Dortmund and other clubs,” says Bayat about the eye-catcher of his new football temple. “No divisions, one block. This should allow the fans to create a huge atmosphere in the new stadium.”

The ZebrArena would cost around sixty to seventy million euros and will also be used in 2027 as one of the stations where the Women’s Football World Cup will be played. Bayat has already received the green light from the local government for the construction of the new home port of Charleroi, which will be located in an industrial zone.
