On February 13th, players from “SPINNERS.EXE” (SPINNERS.EXE, representative of Shota Matsuo), who will be joining the 3-person professional basketball league this season, paid a courtesy visit to Isehara Mayor Matsutaro Takayama.
Three-a-side basketball is played using unique rules that differ from five-a-side basketball, with the court being half the size, the game time being shorter, and the first team to score 21 points winning.
“3×3.EXE PREMIER JAPAN 2024”, in which the team will participate, is a professional three-person basketball league approved by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). This season, five new men’s teams and three new women’s teams will be participating, including the same team.
Hometown is Isehara etc.
With the slogan “Bringing basketball culture to Isehara,” the team operates from Isehara City, Atsugi City, and Hadano City as their hometowns. It was established with the aim of being a place where a wide range of generations, from children to adults, can enjoy basketball, as well as creating an environment where children can watch professional players play and receive direct instruction. The team logo and name were inspired by the Oyama top.
Representative Matsuo, who lives in the city, said, “Isehara and Hadano don’t have professional sports teams.They have large populations, so I think there are business opportunities.There is evidence that cities in various countries with community-based sports clubs are definitely thriving. “I want to revitalize the local area,” he says enthusiastically. Mayor Takayama said, “Isehara is popular for minibus and other basketball activities.We will cooperate as much as possible.”
The team practices two days a week at Naruse Junior High School and Isehara Elementary School.
