Spanish Cup: solid in Mallorca, Real Sociedad leaves with a draw (0-0) one week from PSG

A victory on points that the Basques hope not to regret. In the first semi-final of the Copa del Rey, Real Sociedad held off Mallorca to bring home a good 0-0 at the end of the first leg. The return match will take place on February 27 in San Sebastián, until then, the confrontation against PSG in the 8th round of the Champions League will occupy all the minds of Sadiq’s teammates.

In a fairly closed and inconsistency meeting, it is rather Real who may harbor some regrets. Almost never put in difficulty by Javier Aguirre’s players, except for a shot from Prats (28th), the visitors got themselves some hot situations like Sadiq who did not find the target on his head (38th).

But it’s very light to raise a semblance of emotion. The second period is a little livelier but remains quite indigestible. If Prats wakes up the supporters of Mallorca (52nd), it is still Real Sociedad which is closest to the target. But Sadiq in the 53rd and especially a few moments later (59th), misses the inevitable in a rather incomprehensible way. Obviously not having a great day, the Nigerian is unable to push the ball into the back of the net when he is three meters from the Grail.

Unsurprisingly, the two teams separated with a goalless score (0-0). In the other semi-final, Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético Madrid will host Athletic Bilbao in the first round on Wednesday.
