It was not a good weekend for the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club in its participation in the National League since it ended, with three defeats, the three matches it played in the Silver Division of the First National held in the Carolina Marín pavilion in Huelva.
The first rival seemed to be the most complicated, in addition to the quality of its players because Recreativo La Orden was the host of the test. The support of their team led to the local victory in which the honor for the Sorianos was achieved by Daniela Corchón and Aitor San Martín in their individual matches.
After this defeat, the rivals of the Saturday afternoon matchday were the Menorcans from the Maò Badminton Club. Despite the only victory achieved by Javier Barrios, up to four matches were extended to the fifth set in which the Sorians were not as successful as their opponents, with the match going to the Balearic side.
After these defeats, the Sorians had to face the Palma Badminton Club, a team that featured in its ranks a large number of foreign players of proven intentional level.
The players who were lined up responded against such a powerful rival, despite being defeated by four victories to three.
The Soriano victories were obtained by Daniela Corchón, twice in both individual and women’s doubles with Nora Martínez as well as individual with Ainhoa Larraya. The key match was the men’s singles that fell to the Balearic side by a score of 11 to 10 in the fifth set and that again, fortune or the lack of success in key moments, deprived Soria of victory.
Despite these defeats, the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club is out of relegation positions, having rivals on the calendar who, in view of the current classification, may be conducive to achieving more victories and certifying permanence.
Víctor Ortega, the club’s top technical manager, is satisfied with his team’s performance and will focus the work of the coming weeks on maintaining the players’ intensity until the last moments of each set.
