Apparently, no one can beat Line Christophersen when it comes to fighting for the Danish women’s singles championship.

On Saturday, the 24-year-old badminton player secured the DM gold for the fifth time in a row.

In the final at the DM in Sønderborg, she beat Mia Blichfeldt 21-15, 21-14.

On paper, Mia Blichfeldt was the favourite. In the world rankings, she is thus 12 places ahead of Line Christophersen, but the real balance of power turned out to be different on Saturday afternoon.

Gemke Danish champion
On the men’s side, Rasmus Gemke beat Magnus Johannesen 21-16, 21-18 in the final.

Thus, 27-year-old Gemke took over the DM throne from last year’s winner Hans-Kristian Vittinghus, whom he defeated in Friday’s semi-final.

Gemke and Johannesen were the two highest-ranked participants in men’s singles, after Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen had canceled the DM event in Sønderborg.

Gemke and Johannesen are respectively number 29 and 34 in the world ranking.

In the final in the women’s doubles, Sara Thygesen and Maiken Fruergaard won gold, while Jesper Toft and Clara Graversen came out on top in the mixed doubles.

In the men’s doubles, the final is between a duo consisting of Andreas Søndergaard and Jesper Toft, who meet Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard.

You can exclusively follow UTS on Ekstra Bladet+, where you can watch Holger Rune play a very decisive match against Alexander Bublik on Saturday.
