The Italian Jannik Sinner won his quarter-final after abandoning his Raonic after leading a set to zero (7-6).

Jannik Sinner qualified Friday evening for the semi-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam, his first competition since his coronation at the Australian Open last month, taking advantage of the withdrawal of Canadian Milos Raonic, at the start of the second set.

Sinner, fourth-ranked player in the world, won the first set in the tie-break, which he dominated 7 points to four against an opponent weakened by a sprain. Raonic threw in the towel at 1-1 in the next set.

He also signs his 200th victory on the professional circuit, a performance that no other player born after 2000 (the Italian was born in August 2001) has achieved to date.

The first Italian to win a Grand Slam tournament since Adriano Panatta in 1976 at Roland Garros, Sinner will face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor on Saturday for a place in the final. The other semi-final will pit Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov against Australian Alex De Minaur.
