Leinì: the debutant Simone Loi, from the Rivarolo Judo Academy, is a bronze medal in the Piedmont Cup
The 2024 Piedmont Fijlkam Cup (Official Italian Federation) took place in the Leinì arena on Saturday 3 February for the rookie category A. Simone Loi took part in his first competition as a rookie for the Asd Accademia Rivarolo Judo. With 16 participants in the 45 kilogram category, Simone faces his first elimination competition and with new rules. He loses the first match on the golden score, unfortunately his agitation did not allow him to impose himself on his opponent.
Having put aside the disappointment of the lost match, he is ready to face the repechages and it is precisely in these matches that he demonstrates his desire to go and take the bronze medal final. He overcomes all his opponents and reaches the final for third place. Final tied for most of the match but shortly before the end he manages to place his technique and take home the bronze medal.
A good first performance in the new category, which bodes well for the future. Thanks from the Academy goes, as always, to Simone’s parents and training partners.
