Simon Tahamata Leaves Ajax Youth Academy to Set Up Football School in Berlin

Simon Tahamata leaves Ajax’s youth academy. He was a technique trainer there for ten years. Tahamata leaves Amsterdam for Berlin, where he will set up a football school.

The 67-year-old Tahamata made a splash as a winger for Ajax in the 1970s. After his active career, Tahamata became a youth coach at various clubs. In 2014 he returned to Ajax as a technique trainer.

“I came here when I was 15 and it’s my home. I’ve put my heart and soul into the club. It’s been great to have seen the boys grow, not only in their playing but also in their development,” said the 67-year-old Tahamata on the Ajax website. He leaves for Berlin to work with young talents there. “We have a project there and are going to do exactly the same as what we do here. Train players for a first team elsewhere.”
