Serie C Now is the first football league in Europe with the Referee-Cam

Serie C NOW and Sky Sport announce an epochal novelty: for the first time in a European football league, in the match scheduled for Sunday 25 February between Cesena and Pineto (from 3pm on Sky Sport football and streaming on NOW), the referee Claudio Allegretta from the Molfetta section will wear the camera which will provide live images never seen before which will change the experience in front of the screen forever.

Thanks to the Referee-Cam with NVP’s innovative technology, Series C NOW viewers will exclusively be able to see everything that surrounds the referee from his view. This will allow fans to personally identify with the role of the referee, to grasp particular perspectives in every game action, giving life to a participation of unique value. The Referee-Cam will then be the protagonist in a match of each playoff round.

“This is a special day for all Serie C fans. We are the first League that is open to such a change and we confirm ourselves once again as the main innovation laboratory for the entire world of football. C has always been the home of experimentation. Being able to provide the public with a view of the referee, what all fans have dreamed of seeing for decades, represents an incredible success, further strengthening the bond between football and fans. It is an epochal turning point that can only bring benefits. I am sure that we will be the first in an experience destined to expand. All this was possible thanks to the synergistic work with the FIGC and the Italian Referees Association. My thanks go to the president Carlo Pacifici and the designator Maurizio Ciampi for their availability and collaboration” – declared Lega Pro number one Matteo Marani.

“We welcomed with enthusiasm and supported with conviction Lega Pro’s proposal to introduce such a fascinating innovation to the television product linked to Serie C – commented Marzio Perrelli, Executive Vice President Sport of Sky. If Lega Pro has identified Sky as a partner up to this challenge, it is because the search for technological modernization represents one of the fundamental pillars of our House of Sport. At Sky we know well that quality comes from the creation of constantly evolving content: offering our subscribers such a revolutionary point of view for football matches represents further confirmation of how Sky continues to be a fundamental point of reference for fans and football fans.”

An increasingly solid partnership between Serie C NOW and Sky: after having already offered the widest streaming service, with 1,143 nationally exclusive matches and 48 co-exclusive matches per season, all the matches of the regular season, playoffs, the Super Cup and the Coppa Italia Serie C live from the round of 16, a very important page in the history of football is now being written.
