Just as in the last edition of the continental championship, held in El Paso (Canary Islands, Spain) in 2022, there will be three race formats present: two Mountain Running tests (Uphill and Up&Down), one Trail Running, this time scheduled on a distance of approximately 60km and a difference in altitude of 3580 meters along the classic paths of the MaXi-Race Salomon, which already hosted the world trail running event in 2015, when mountain running and trail running still involved the dispute of two different international championships.
The program of the Annecy event also confirmed the two tests reserved for the U20s, to determine an overall technical picture better summarized in the following detail.

• Percorso Mountain Classic: 16,1km, 940m D+ 980m D-
• Percorso Trail: 61,9km, 3580m D+ 3640m D-
U20 M/F
• Percorso Uphill U20: 5,6km, 830m D+ 10m D-
• Percorso Mountain Classic U20: 5,9km, 430m D+ 450m D-
According to the selection criteria published today, three athletes are already certain to wear the blue in France: the world vice champion Andreas Reiterer for the trail running event and the already European mountain running champions, Cesare Maestri and Xavier Chevrier for the trials more classic and short.
The spotlight will be on Maremontana di Loano (SV) on 7 April for the trail running selections, while there will be two selection races valid for the uphill test: Prelà (IM), 25 April and Fenis, 01 May (AO).
At the Italian Championships in Lanzada (So) on May 5th the task of giving the Technical Direction the necessary indications to complete the teams on the “up and down” format.
International U18 Mountain Running Cup
The selection criteria for the U18 teams (student category) which will compete on June 22nd in Spain, in Montana Palentina, were also defined in today’s Council meeting. As usual, the two Italian championships will be decisive, the individual one in Lanzada (So), Saturday 4 May, and the relay one in Dario Boario Terme (Bs) on Sunday 25 May.
